Sentinel Solutions Group was built by practitioners for the agencies that do the hardest work in public safety, government, and mission-critical environments. We staff the firm the same way.
Every program Sentinel touches has consequence. Dispatch floors where every second of call-answer time matters. Officers whose situational awareness depends on the radio in their hand. Firefighters whose dispatch cannot drop. Jails where corrections technology decides whether the shift goes home safe. Schools where visitor management protects children. Procurement decisions that lock agencies into ten-year contracts. We work where the technology has to hold, because the people on the other end of it cannot afford for it to fail.
These are not aspirations. They are working principles. Every person at Sentinel commits to them on day one, and they govern how decisions get made when nobody is in the room to watch.
We never take a referral fee. We never accept a commission. We never let a vendor write our recommendations. Every person at Sentinel commits to this from day one.
We hire from the floor up. CAD chair, dispatch console, EOC table, jail control room, radio shop. Lived experience is the credential. We sharpen it. We never substitute for it.
Our work is engineered, documented, and audit-defensible. We do not invent jargon. We invent the artifacts that programs survive on.
Reports without accountability are vendor work. We do not write reports and leave. The relationships our clients depend on outlast the engagements that started them.
We move first when the evidence supports it. We hold the line when it does not. The agencies we serve cannot afford to be anyone's beta test, and neither can the people who work here.
Sentinel is building a benefits standard that reflects the work. Compensation is competitive. Coverage is comprehensive. Time is real. Growth is structured. Mission is the foundation.
Compensation aligned to public-safety advisory market data. Performance recognition tied to the standard, not a quota.
Comprehensive coverage with employer contribution toward premiums. Coverage that takes care of the family, not just the employee.
Built for the long-term career, because we expect long-term careers here.
Generous paid time off. Paid holidays. Paid family leave. Recovery is part of the standard.
Conference and certification budget. Full access to Sentinel Institute curriculum. Career path conversations that happen on the calendar, not by accident.
Remote-capable work where the role allows. On-site presence where the agency requires. Time set aside for community and agency service.
Every person who joins Sentinel works directly with the founders. Not the firm's middle layer. The firm's founders. Justin Scott has spent more than two decades building, leading, and recovering public-safety technology programs at agencies from county dispatch consolidations to LAPD-scale records modernization. Jason Floyd has built engineering teams and mentored technical talent across some of the largest mission-critical software deployments in the country. They built Sentinel because the firm they kept looking for did not exist. They built it the way they would have wanted to be developed when they were starting out.
Operations & Change Management. Two decades across CAD, P25, RMS, and major program-rescue work.
Engineering & Technology. Two decades building engineering teams across mission-critical software deployments.
Justin Scott & Jason Floyd · Managing Partners
Sentinel is built to be tight, accountable, and honest. The firm is small on purpose. We grow when the right person walks in the door, not when the calendar tells us to hire. The people who do well here are practitioners who take ownership, ask hard questions, hold each other to a high bar, and do not need a manager standing over them to deliver good work. We work like a family that respects each other's craft. We disagree directly. We resolve completely. We move on together.
We are not a firm that hides behind process. The work is the work, and we own it.
Every person here is being developed by someone with more time in the field. That is not a perk. It is the structure.
We treat each other as long-term relationships, not transactions. When the work is hard, the people get harder for each other.
“If you need a corporate handbook to know how to behave, this is not the firm for you. We hire adults and we treat each other like adults.”
Sentinel serves agencies across North America that handle the hardest work in their respective sectors. Some of the most recognized names in public safety. Some of the largest-scale operations in the country. Some of the smallest agencies whose work matters every bit as much. The common thread is consequence.

Sentinel is not a two-person firm. Every engagement is supported by a bench of decorated practitioners, hand-picked by Justin and Jason across two careers of working alongside the best people in the industry. We do not post bench seats publicly. We curate them. Membership is by invitation and by reputation. The people on the bench earned their place through decades of work the industry already knows about.
Bench Composition
If you are a seasoned practitioner whose experience aligns with the standard we hold, we want to know you exist. Introduce yourself. Tell us what you have done and where you have done it. We will know whether the fit is right.
Introduce YourselfSentinel Vanguard is the firm's flagship internship program for current undergraduates and recent graduates pursuing careers in public-safety technology, mission-critical infrastructure, and government advisory work. Mentorship comes directly from Justin and Jason, with named bench advisors paired to each cohort member.
Direct mentorship from the founders, plus a paired bench advisor
Real public-safety advisory work, not observational shadowing
Twelve-week summer cohort with a published capstone deliverable
Defined conversion pathway to full-time employment for top cohort alumni
Most students never hear that this industry exists. Sentinel believes the next generation of public-safety technology leaders should be discovered earlier, mentored harder, and shown what consequence work actually looks like before they pick the wrong corporate track.
Learn About Sentinel Vanguard →Sentinel does not post positions to signal growth or fill a recruiting calendar. When a role is published here, the work is real, the standard is set, and the firm is ready to make the right hire.
